Thank you for posting this, Emily! I had a colonoscopy years back, was supposed to return for another after 5 years but have been putting it off. I’m a few years past that, but I’ve got it scheduled for next month. All this to say - thank you for being real, authentic, and timely (for me) in sharing this. I appreciate you! With gratitude -

I’m so happy to hear that! Good for you for taking care of your health! I know it’s inconvenient and not enjoyable in the slightest (except for that sedated nap!), but the alternative is so much worse. That was the point of my sharing—if even just one person reads it and picks up the phone to make the appointment, it will have been worth it. Best of luck and hoping for good news for you.

Thank you so much, Emily!

I am grateful for your kind, thoughtful, and uplifting response!

Also - that's awesome. You're so right, even if one person picks up the the phone to schedule, then it's worth it.

Thank you once more for your care and authenticity.

I appreciate you!

Sincerely -

Emily, so happy to see that you kept your courage up and got the colonoscopy. Brava for you! What a relief to know the results - they totally confirm that you should always listen to your body. ❤️

I would not say it was an enjoyable experience, but so much better than the alternative of having colon cancer. Hoping that by sharing more about it I can encourage others to be diligent about theirs as well!

Excellent intent!

Get the damn colonoscopy.

Same thing happened to me!

Got mine in late Jan. Two polyps removed. One was pre-cancerous.

Love you, Emily. You are a light for us!

It’s so unnerving, especially as someone who takes good care of herself and would be considered relatively low risk. UGH! I’m just so glad I didn’t chicken out. Thank you for the encouragement and solidarity! Hugs, love you right back, friend!

I’m glad that you got your colonoscopy and that you listened to your body. My grandma has colon cancer that was caught early thanks to her getting regular colonoscopies. She also had breast and skin cancer so I promised her I would stay up on all of my screenings. I also hate when books replace the cover with the movie art.

I’m so glad your grandma caught it early. I am honestly still a bit in shock, to be honest, but I keep reminding myself that’s exactly what these screenings are for. We want to catch any issues before they can develop into anything more serious. Thanks for always being willing to discuss health stuff with me!

I’m glad that I can be there to discuss those things. Thanks for always being willing to listen. I’m relieved for you that they caught it before it developed into something serious.

Polyps turn quickly too!! Tell me more about this overseas assignment. Some place fun?

They do, especially the sessile serrated adenomas. And I will share exactly where soon, but it's in Asia!

My friend is coming back from Okinawa in June. Aside from the massive humidity and tiny living arrangements they have on post, they absolutely loved the experience and food. Culture shock no doubt, but something they’ll never forget.

That’s where we are going!!!
